On Fees

Why There Are No Published Rates

The scope of a techno-economic feasibility study, a ghostwritten memoir, and a multilateral funding application differ too fundamentally for a rate card to serve either party honestly. Each mandate is different in complexity, required expertise, timeline, and depth of engagement — and is priced to reflect that.

Describing a project briefly in the contact form or by email is all that is needed to receive a fee indication. The process is designed to be easy to begin.

What Shapes the Fee

Document Complexity & Length

The structural complexity of the document — disciplines to be synthesised, depth of technical content, regulatory framework requirements — is the primary determinant. A focused 25–40 page policy brief may require different resources than a 150-page TEFS. Both are within scope.

Research & Discovery Requirements

Mandates requiring extensive structured interviews, independent research, or deep immersion carry higher discovery costs. Mandates where comprehensive source material and clear structural direction are provided are priced accordingly.

Timeline

Standard timelines allow for the structured process described on the Process page. Compressed timelines — driven by transaction close dates, conference presentations, or approval deadlines — are accommodated where capacity allows and reflected in the fee.

Revision Rounds

All engagements include a defined number of revision rounds specified in the engagement letter. Processes involving multiple internal stakeholder inputs are scoped and priced transparently at the outset.

Ongoing Advisory Arrangements

For institutions producing documentation across multiple cycles — policy briefs, funding submissions, annual reports, board memoranda — ongoing advisory arrangements are available. These provide priority scheduling, continuity of editorial relationship, and engagement terms structured around the institution's annual documentation calendar rather than individual project scopes. Many client relationships have developed along these lines over time.
